we spent today at the home of george washington-- mount vernon. it was one of the most beautiful places i've ever seen. the gardens, the home, the lawn sloping down to the shore of the river... all of it was breathtaking. we've been wanting to visit this place since we moved here, but finally made the trip today-- as we're organizing for our next move. now we wish we could return to see everything we didn't have time for today! i think next time, the girls would request that we visit in early spring, or perhaps late fall, since they complained about the heat about 1,468 times. it was hot-- but worth every minute of it!
