we had such a fun weekend! ben's brother elie and his girlfriend amanda came to visit, and we did lots of playing, exploring, and catching up. when they arrived on friday, ben showed them around at work, and then gave them a little tour of the base. on saturday, we did some fishing in the morning (and didn't catch a thing....) and then on saturday evening, we enjoyed a night out on the town. yesterday, we took a day trip to cape lookout and shackleford banks. after a picnic lunch, we took a ferry ride out to do some exploring on the islands, and there sure was a lot to see! one of the islands is inhabited by wild horses, and the other one that we got to explore had a beautiful lighthouse on it. our captain dropped us off and left us to hike around for a few hours. the girls had fun running wild on the beach and all over the dunes, and we all loved taking in the sunshine. it was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed the company of family! thanks for visiting, elie & amanda! we loved having you here!
